The Orpheus Mediterranean Orchestra is a student and community orchestra open to all ages and playing levels. Drawing the from folk music of Greece, the Leventine Coast and North Africa, directors George Lawler and Eve Monzingo create arrangements written specifically for orchestra members. Each rehearsal features a new piece and reviews of previous pieces all leading up to a final performance to be announced.
The musical repertoire includes music from Egypt, Greece, the Levantine coast, and North Africa. This program teaches the folk rhythms and eastern scale modes of the Mediterranean area.
The teachers, Eve Monzingo and George Lawler have directed the Orpheus music group since 2007, and have also studied and performed a wide variety of music from countries in the Mediterranean area. Their full artist bios can be found here.

The Orpheus Hellenic Folklore Society, established in 1989, seeks to perpetuate the rich history and traditions of Greek folk dances, songs, and music. The organization has performed at a wide variety of national and international multicultural events, educational institutions and public venues. This year they have expanded their music program to include the Mediterranean Orchestra in collaboration with music teachers Eve Monzingo and George Lawler.
